The mission of the community of the Oblates in Aix-en-Provence is to be at the service of the whole Congregation, and of the persons (lay associates, members of the Institutes of Consecrated Life connected to the Oblates, and others), who wish to know more about the work and spirituality of St. Eugene de Mazenod. This is done by meetings for first and continued formation, by retreats, sessions, expositions, conferences, and other means. The community also does pastoral work at the Church of the Mission, which is also called the Oblate chapel. The community also does pastoral work with the Mazenod Family, with students, and, in collaboration with the diocese, with the high school students of Aix.
Vow Preperation Session
The International St. Eugene de Mazenod Center in Aix is committed to promoting the oblate charism and oblate spirituality. The Aix community makes every effort to live in the spirit and charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod including his predilection for the most abandoned. In other words, they live their mission with love and passion offering their dynamism and selflessly sharing their expertise.
Formation for Formators
Formation to the Missionary life is an art which demands special qualities! In the month of July, in Aix-en-Province, has taken place a formation session for formators who accompany our candidates in their discernment prior to the Novitiate stage to embrace the Missionary life. The session was organized by Fr. Cornelius NGOKA, Assistant General in-charge of Formation. He was aided, in this task, by Fr. Clement WAIDYASEKARA, General Councilor for Asia and member of the internal committee of formation.
It is never too late to discover Aix
The community of Aix welcomes with great pleasure the 25 Oblates who come from Belgium and Holland. Certain of them come to Aix for the first time in their life. The evidence of their life has helped the Community of Aix which is still at the beginning of its own mission.
